Dorothy K. Moore, 69, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 11, 2020 at Kitty Askins Hospice Center.

Dottie was born in Oahu, Hawaii on September 29, 1951, one of 21 children, to the late Herbert and Julia Kapuakela. Throughout her life, Dottie lived her life with resiliency and a love for life. She faced her obstacles with grace and with an abiding faith in Jesus Christ. She could light up a room with her personality and radiant smile. She was an amazing wife, mother and grandmother to her family. Anyone who knew her knew she was a kind, and loving person to all she met. Dottie was blessed to share her wonderful memories and experiences with her family and friends over the years.

A service to celebrate Dottie’s life will be at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, December 18, 2020 in the sanctuary of The First Pentecostal Holiness Church with Pastor Bill Rose officiating. The family will greet friends following the service in the church narthex. We respectfully remind those attending the service to practice social distancing guidelines.

She is survived by her husband of almost 48 years, Archie Clifton Moore; daughter, Mahealani Mapuwana Jones and husband Christopher; son, Clifton Keola Moore; and grandson, Aidan Crispin Jones. Dottie is also survived by her brothers, Harold, Thomas, Robert and Abraham Kapuakela and sisters, Julia Belisario, Louise Kapana, Eliza Martin, Carol, Doreen, Elizabeth, Danielle and Barbara Kapuakela. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Brenda Christine Moore and son, Shannon Lopaka Moore.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be given in Dottie’s memory to The First Pentecostal Holiness Church, 1100 The First Church Road, Goldsboro, NC 27534 or to the Special Olympics of Wayne County.
