Overcoming the cold weather, Rosewood teammates Jaylee Amy and India Young finished among the top 10 during a Carolina 1A Conference meet ran at the Pikeville Town Hall on Monday afternoon.
Amy took first individually with a time of 25 minutes, 0.4 seconds. Young crossed the line second in 26:14.60.
Princeton’s Margaret Parrish (third, 27:10.40) and Abby Capps (fifth, 30:03) both finished in the top five, while North Duplin’s Maria Rojas (30:23.20) came in sixth.
On the boys’ side, Jackson Woodard led Princeton with a first-place effort of 18:12.50. Adam Casey (second) turned in a time of 18:17.20. Ernesto Garcia (third) ran the 5k course in 19:25.20. Rosewood’s Billy Strickland (fourth 20:14) and North Duplin’s Noel Rangel (fifth, 20:18) finished among the meet’s top five runners.
Princeton amassed 21 points to win the boys’ meet, while Rosewood finished with 34 points.
