Wayne County’s unemployment rate ticked up in September.   According to the latest figures from the North Carolina Department of Commerce, Wayne County’s seasonally unadjusted jobless rate rose to 6.4% in September, up slightly from the 6.2% rate recorded in August.  The latest figure is still far above the 3.7% unemployment rate recorded in September of 2019.  Wayne County was ranked as having the 44^th lowest unemployment rate out of North Carolina’s 100 counties this September.
