Faye McGuirt Tyndall

Faye McGuirt Tyndall, 74, completed her journey home on Monday, October 19, 2020 to the welcoming words, “Well done, my good and faithful servant.”

Faye was born in Richmond County on March 7, 1946 to the late Milton Lee McGuirt and Mary Ormsby McGuirt. She completed her Master’s in Education from East Carolina University. Faye was a beloved Kindergarten teacher at Meadow Lane Elementary School in Goldsboro where she devoted her life to children in Wayne County for 30 years.

Faye loved May’s Chapel Original Free Will Baptist Church and was a dedicated and faithful member of the church choir. She enjoyed music, gardening, working with her flowers, and going to the beach. Above all, she loved spending time with her family and friends, especially her precious grandchildren. She will be missed.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, October 21, 2020 from 6:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home followed by a service to celebrate Faye’s life at 7:00 p.m. in the chapel with Rev. Jeff Daughtry officiating. Interment will be at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 22, 2020 in Wayne Memorial Park.

Faye is survived by her husband of 55 years, Harvey Louis Tyndall; daughters, Amanda (Amy) Gooding, Rebecca (Becky) Dawson and husband Jerry, and Christine Cummings; grandchildren, Lauren Brittany Knuckles, Joshua Louis Gooding, Samantha Jo Dawson, Savannah Joy Dawson, and Georgia Leigh Cummings and fiancée, J.J. Creech; and great-granddaughter, MacKenzie Knuckles. She is also survived by her sister, Jean Smith and sisters-in-law, Brenda Avent and husband Roy, and Dorothy Johnson.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son-in-law, Brad Cummings; sister, Carol Ann McGuirt; and brother, Jerry McGuirt.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given in Faye’s memory to Mays Chapel O.F.W.B. Church, in care of Deborah Shivar, 339 Everette Road, Mount Olive, NC 28365.
