October 10, 2020, 89, Godsboro

Ellen Joyce Gardner Harris, 89, went to be with her Lord, Jesus Christ, on Saturday, October 10, 2020 at Kitty Askins Hospice Center surrounded by her family.

Joyce was born in Wayne County on May 16, 1931 to the late Walter and Mattie Peele Smith Gardner. She was married to the late Roy Everett Harris. Joyce had attended Bethel Church and was a member of the Red Hat Society.

Joyce will be remembered for her unconditional love as a wife and mother, and a friend to all. So too will she be remembered for her kind spirit, and her gift of finding joy in doing random acts of kindness for others. Family was paramount to Joyce, and she loved nothing more than her husband, her children, and grandchildren. She was the embodiment of love as we have been taught by our Savior, Jesus Christ.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, October 13, 2020 from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home followed by a service to celebrate Joyce’s life at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel with her son-in-law, Rev. Clark Beiler and grandson, Rev. Jason Beiler officiating. Interment will be in Wayne Memorial Park with Rev. Daniel Weeks officiating.

Joyce is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Teresa Loretta Beiler and Edward Clark Beiler; son and daughter-in-law, Roy Dean Harris and Amy Susanne Harris; nine grandchildren, James Beiler, Jason Beiler, Julie Lee, Michael Harris, Mitchel Dean Harris, Shannon Marie Harris Weaver, Megan Michelle Harris Haveri, Kayla Frances Turnage Holmes and Thomas Ray Turnage; and 29 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Mark Allen Harris; and granddaughter, Christina Harris.

Flowers are welcome or memorials may be given in her memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
