Thursday afternoon, the New Hope and Saulston fire departments along with Wayne County EMS paramedics were dispatched to a possible working structure fire on Smith Farm Lane. The blaze was reported by one of the New Hope fire engines that was in the area. Heavy smoke was seen coming out of double-wide mobile home on the 200 block of Smith Farm Lane. The occupant inside the structure had already escaped the blaze and ran across the road to get help. Firefighters managed to keep the blaze contained to the interior of the structure. No injuries were reported during the operation. The cause of the fire was not immediately known.
