A new event will have to wait another year before debuting in Downtown Goldsboro.

On Monday, it was announced the 2020 NC Freedom Festival has been cancelled due to COVID-19 and the state’s phased reopening being much slower than expected.

Several organizations teamed up to honor the state’s military heritage during the festival, including the Goldsboro Elks Lodge, City of Goldsboro, Downtown Goldsboro Development Corporation, and Wayne County Chamber of Commerce Military Affairs Committee.

The groups say they look forward to bringing the Freedom Fest to Downtown Goldsboro next year, and details on the 2021 event will be announced at a later date.
