State Board To County: Hold Evidentiary Hearing On Foster’s Residency

There’s still life for an election protest filed against a candidate for the Wayne County Board of Commissioners.

Monday afternoon, the State Board of Elections listened to an appeal filed by Zachary Lilly regarding his protest challenging the residency and nomination of Bevan Foster for the District 3 Commissioner seat.

The Wayne County Board of Elections dismissed the election protest earlier this month saying two of the three persons that filed the protest were ineligible to challenge Foster’s candidacy.

On Monday, the State Board of Elections voted unanimously to remand the election protest to the Wayne County Board of Elections to hold an evidentiary hearing regarding Foster’s eligibility – specifically whether Foster resides within District 3.

Foster won the March 3rd Democratic Primary, but the election protest alleges Foster does not reside at his registered District 3 address of 610 Deveraux Street in Goldsboro.
