Marianna Best Neal

Marianna Best Neal, 94, peacefully passed away Monday, June 29, 2020 at Brookdale Country Day. Born in Wayne County on July 23, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Dwight Moody Best and Johnnie Belle Grant Best and was married to the late William Joseph Neal, Sr. for fifty years.

Marianna previously worked at Rosewood High School. She had a great love for flowers and took great pride in her flower beds at Brookdale. Marianna was a faithful servant of her Lord and read her Bible daily. For many years while at Brookdale, she coordinated the Monday morning prayer service. She was a member of Oakland Friends Meeting for over fifty years and later became a member of Pine Forest United Methodist Church.

A private graveside service will be held Thursday, July 2, 2020 at Evergreen Memorial Cemetery in Princeton with Rev. Pam Adkins-German, Rev. Dr. Ed Gunter, and Daniel Baynes officiating.

Marianna is survived by her daughter, Johnnie Belle Neal Daniels and husband, Larry of High Point; sons, William Joseph Neal, Jr. and wife, Dianne of High Point and Robert M. Neal and wife, Wanda of Bardstown, Kentucky; special grandson, Chris Neal and wife, Wendy; grandchildren, Larry Daniels, Jr. and wife Michelle, Anna Marie Daniels Wahl and husband, Nathan James, Eric Emmitt Neal and wife, Jennifer, Jacob Moody Neal and wife Christine, and Heather Anne Neal, and husband, AJ Schraeder; great-grandchildren, Hayden Newsome Neal, William Henry Neal, Nathan Michael Wahl, Molly Claire Wahl, Samuel Blaine Wahl, Kylie Erin Neal, Colby Eric Neal, and Dakota Margaret Daniels; brother, JD Best and wife, Faye of Goldsboro; sister-in-law, Bonnie Neal of Rosewood; and several nieces and nephews.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the management and staff of Brookdale Senior Living for all of their support and for making this her home away from home. They would also like to thank Community Home Health and Hospice for their compassionate care in her final days.
