As of Friday, the Wayne County Health Department has received notification of 1,590 total positive cases of COVID-19. 76 of these cases are attributed to congregate living facilities and 1,045 are cases from outside any type of congregate facility. 469 offenders at Neuse Correctional Institute tested positive for COVID-19, but they have recovered as reported earlier by NCDPS. 1,196 of the 1,590 individuals who tested positive are now considered recovered, leaving an estimated total of 371 cases that are currently active in Wayne County.

The health department received notice of one additional death this week. The individual passed away on Thursday, June 18, and was in their mid-50s with underlying medical conditions. This death was affiliated with a congregate or long term care facility. The current total number of COVID-19 related deaths in Wayne County is 23.
