Mercel “Bud” Head

Mercel “Bud” Head

May 27, 86,

Mercel “Bud” Head completed his journey home on Wednesday, May 27, 2020 to the welcoming words, “Well done, my good and faithful servant.”

Bud was born in Greene County on January 7, 1934 to the late Odell and Gatsie Corbett Head. For many years he worked and later retired as a truck driver for Conoco – Phillips Gas Company and also served as their terminal manager in Selma. Bud was a good friend, a great father and had a generous heart. He provided a wonderful home for his family and gave all he could to his family and strangers alike. Bud was a charter member of Grace Baptist Church in Goldsboro.

Bud was a hard-working man, which was the theme of his life, he lived to work. He was the kind of man who was loyal to his family, who took great pride in caring and providing for them. There will be many who remember him for his love of working in the yard as it always showed. Bud would love to work with any type of farm machinery or to tell you a story about his work with that machinery from days gone by. A trusted friend and neighbor, he worked from sun up to sun down, always demonstrating a strong work ethic. He will be missed.

A graveside service to celebrate Bud’s life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 30, 2020 at the Stantonsburg Cemetery with Pastor Jason Stoeber officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the cemetery.

Bud is survived by his wife of 65 years, Edith “Faye” Head; children, Keith Head (Terry), Pam Stafford (Wade), and Gary Head (Kim); grandchildren, Heather Gray, Austin Head, and Blaine Stafford; and sister Joan Sullivan.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister and three brothers.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests you send memorials to the ministry of Grace Baptist Church, 1715 Royall Avenue, Goldsboro, NC 27534.

Online condolences may be sent to www.seymourfuneralhome.com.
