(NORTH CAROLINA NEWS NETWORK) — Governor Roy Cooper has responded to President Donald Trump’s twittered demand for assurances that the Republican National Convention scheduled for Charlotte be allowed to operate at full capacity. During a media briefing on Tuesday, Cooper says that Convention planners have been asked to provide a written COVID-19 safety plan “as soon as possible.” Gov. Cooper also called gyms disobeying state rules “dangerous.” His scaled-back Phase 2 in the statewide reopening plan requires gyms to remain closed, but some opened for workouts over the weekend. A lawsuit over the issue is also expected.
