Hurricane Preparedness During COVID-19 Crisis

(NORTH CAROLINA NEWS NETWORK) — Preparing for hurricanes in the midst of the COVID-19 crisis presents some new wrinkles. That’s according to James Morrow of the National Weather Service, who notes this is National Hurricane Preparedness Week. Whether its developing an evacuation plan or getting an insurance checkup, Morrow says you can still prepare for a hurricane while following social distancing guidelines.  Morrow says CDC guidelines will have to be utilized if a storm targets the state.  Hurricane season officially begins Monday, June 1 and runs through Monday, Nov. 30.  This year, meteorologists with N.C. State University forecast above-normal activity for the season.
